Thank you to all those who came to the AGM in Hatfield on Sunday 28th February. The meeting followng the AGM was illuminating, and has given the BISHA Board room for thought.

BiSHA - British Inline Skaker Hockey Association

About BiSHA

 

BishaHockey (BiSHA) Limited is the National Governing Body for Skater Hockey in Great Britain. BiSHA is affiliated to the International Governing Body for Skater Hockey, the International Inline Skater Hockey Federation (iiSHF).

Skater hockey is best described as similar to ice hockey but played on inline/roller skates and with a ball! It is a contact sport and players wear ‘kit’, offering a high degree of protection.

Skater hockey leagues are played within regions in the U.K. and are run for all age groups:-

 

                Senior                                 Year of Birth   1991 or earlier 

                Junior                                  Year of Birth   1994 to 1992

                Youth                                   Year of Birth   1997 to 1995

                Pee Wee                             Year of Birth   2000 to 1998

                Minnow                               Year of Birth   2001 or after  

The regular season (Membership Year) runs from 1st January until 31st December with National Finals being held during November of each year.

 

BiSHA have National Men's & Juniors squads. Our National squads compete against fellow IISHF affiliated national squads in annual iiSHF European Championships.

BiSHA are working closely with other disciplines to form one umbrella body with the aim of achieving Olympic status. BiSHA has now achieved Sports Council recognition and forms part of British Roller Sports Federation (BRSF) – the umbrella body of skating disciplines.

BiSHA run referee courses for new referees and timekeepers, each of whom, on passing an examination, are licensed and regularly assessed. Referees gain experience within their leagues and have the opportunity to up-grade. They also have the opportunity to gain further experience by using their skills in International tournaments at home and abroad.

BiSHA maintain a high standard of refereeing and organisation for:-

  • the safety and well being of all our members;
  • player and spectator enjoyment;
  • the smooth running of our sport;

The Board of directors & the Managemnat Comittee of BiSHA are voluntary, providing development of the sport for teams and players. A high degree of professionalism is maintained to provide a safe environment for the sport of Inline Skater Hockey to flourish.

We aim to promote our sport and encourage players of all abilities.

IISHF EUROPEAN CUPS FOR CLUBS

BISHA are pleased to announce the dates of the 2010 European Cups.

The European Cup for Youth will be held in Switzerland over the weekend of 15th and 16th May 2010. The hosts are SHC Buix of Porrentruy and BISHA will be represented by  Norton Cyclones.

The European Cup for Peewees will be held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th July in Krefeld, Germany.  BISHA will be represented by Stansted Spitfires alone, as Bruins have declined to accept their place as Champions.

The European Cup for Juniors will be held over the weekend of 10th and 11th July, in Bochum, Germany.  BISHA will be represented by Wigan Warlords and Reading Rhinos.

The European Cup for Men has yet to be announced.  If any BISHA clubs are interested in hosting an International A Class tournament, please contact BISHA Head Office.

 

IISHF EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

BISHA are pleased to announce that the dates have been set for the National Squad Championships for 2010.

The Mens Championship will take place in Lugano, Switzerland on 29th to 31st October.

The Junior Championhip will take place in Iserlohn, Germany on 18th and 19th September.  GB training for Juniors is due to start on 13th February, any enquiries please contact Karen Bailey.

 

BISHAHOCKEY LTD AGM

 

The AGM  for the period up to 31st December 2008 will be held on Sunday 28th February at Hatfield Leisure Centre, Travellers Lane, Hatfield at 2pm. Although there is a set format for the Company AGM, there will be a General Meeting immediately following the AGM.   This is your chance to have your say, and help the BISHA Board to make decisions for YOUR sport, and discuss new ideas and innovations.
