SENIOR NATIONALS UPDATE:
I have been in contact with the Lord Robert Centre in Bisley this morning, and they have informed me that Queens Road and the roads within Bisley Camp itself have been gritted, and are passable. As far as we know at the present time, motorway links are open, though we would obviously ask anyone travelling to take extra care on what are likely to be icy roads.
The centre do not envisage any reason why they should have trouble opening this weekend, so we look forward to seeing you all there.

BISHA NATIONALS AND REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS
BISHA have decided that after the difficulty in getting the requisite number of teams to run 12 team tournaments in the younger age groups in previous years, we will reduce the size of the Nationals tournaments this year. Peewee will be a 6 team tournament, and both Youth and Junior will be 8 team tournaments. The Senior Nationals will remain at 12 teams as we have more of this age group by far than any other.
Therefore, each region will have their Champions and Vice Champions automatically qualifying for the Nationals. In regards to Seniors, only the 1st and 2nd places will automatically qualify, the 3rd place teams will go to a play off to decide the remaining 2 Nationals places. If any region declines to send their third place team, the number of teams from the play offs will be adjusted to get the required number of teams.
At a meeting with Bisley earlier this year, we arranged to hold three tournaments this year, but we have now been told that due to BIPHA complaints, we are unable to have all three weekends originally agreed. Therefore, the actual dates for some of the Nationals and the Senior play offs are yet to be finalised. The Senior Nationals though will be held at Bisley on 4th & 5th December 2010.
We will also be using Virtual Ice for 6th and 7th November, and Bisley for 20/21st November, but it has yet to be decided which tournaments will be held on these dates. I appreciate this is not an ideal situation, and we will be letting you know which tournaments will be held over these weekends.
We hope to be able to finalise the remaining tournaments, and dates for the Regionals as soon as possible.
Teams are reminded that the cut off point for players eligibility for the Nationals is 1st Sept, and players who do not have registrations in the personal possession of their Regional Membership secretary by that date will not be entitled to play. After 1st Sept, Membership fees reduce to half price, except for age option, non league and Transfers, which will remain the same.

Funding Success for BISHA Club
Press release
Youngsters in Tottenham and surrounding areas will soon be able to try skater hockey for free – and then play for their local club – thanks to a new National Lottery-funded project.
Enforcers Skater Hockey Club will be holding free weekly ‘come and try’ sessions for 11- 17 year olds to be held at Northumberland Park Community School, Tottenham N17, every Thursday starting on 22nd July 2010 from 6.30 – 8.00PM. The sessions are intended to attract more young people to the club (and to form a youth & junior team) – ahead of the 2011 season.
The new sporting opportunities have been made possible by a £9,800 grant from Sport England – which is working with local communities to get people playing more sport. The club has also had help from L&Q (Housing Association).
The funding has enabled the club to purchase skates & protective equipment for shared use, enabling young people in the area to come along and try out the sport for free and have some fun.
Wayne Plummer, Enforcers Skater Hockey Club’s Treasurer, said:
“Enforcers Skater Hockey Club is a well established club but we’re always looking to attract more young members. Our project is about opening up our club and giving young people in Tottenham and surrounding areas the opportunity to play skater hockey competitively. We’re delighted to have received Lottery funding to make it all happen.”
Sport England invests National Lottery and Exchequer funding in projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
Hannah Bladen, Sport England’s Regional Lead for London, said:
“The opportunity to try a new sport for the first time is often all a person needs to catch the sporting bug. The Come Try Skater Hockey project is a great way for local young people to try skater hockey and get a quality sporting experience that will encourage them to stay involved.”
